Winning's the Aim — Swimming's the Game: Catering for competitive and recreational swimmers alike.
Southampton University Swimming Club is a multidimensional club offering a high performance programme for competitive and recreational swimmers alike. We aim to help our members improve their swimming and enable them to compete at the highest possible level.
We compete at many competitions throughout the year and achieve great results everywhere we go.
Our swimmers consistently qualify for BUCS (British University & Colleges Sport) finals for both individual and relay events. Our swimmers also qualify for finals at British Championships and ASA Nationals. We compete at all BUCS competitions: Short Course Champs, Long Course Champs, League. Short/Long Course Champs are similar to open meets and League is similar to a team gala. We also compete at local competitions, our own gala and Varsity.
SUSC has a dedicated coaching team of three coaches, including an ASA Level 2 and two ASA Level 3. Our coaching team designs our training programme to aid all swimmers throughout the year and give the opportunity for our swimmers get the most performance they can.
Our club is run by a 10 strong team of committee members, all of whom are students at the University. They do an amazing job at keeping the club growing and excelling year on year.
The club is ASA (Amateur Swimming Association) registered. This means that our members can compete at licensed open meets, County, Regional and National competitions. In addition to ASA membership, SUSC have very good links with the City of Southampton Swimming Club.
Every Wednesday our members come together for our memorable socials (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic), many which involve fancy dresses and activities/challenges. Our socials give our members the opportunity to mingle and get to know each other out of the water. All our members are welcome and we're sure they'll have an incredible time! We also have very fun nights out when competing at BUCS in Sheffield and at other competitions we attend.
As well as our weekly socials, there is the opportunity to go on tour. Tour is a 5 day long holiday every year during the Easter break. It is a great opportunity to soak up some sun and enjoy some time away with the club. All our members can join us - places are allocated on first come first serve basis. Previous destinations include Benalmádena (2018), Albufeira (2017), Salou (2016), Tenerife (2015), and Gran Canaria (2014).
