Southampton University Swimming Club is a multi-dimensional swimming club that offers a high performance programme for competitive and recreational swimmers alike. We aim to improve our members' standard of swimming and enable them to compete at the highest level possible.
Our swimmers consistently qualify for BUCS (British University & Colleges Sport) finals for both individual and relay events. Our swimmers also qualify for finals at British Championships and ASA Nationals.
SUSC has a dedicated coaching team of four coaches, including an ASA level 2 and an ASA Level 3 Head Coach. Our coaching team design a training programme to aid all swimmers throughout the year.
Our club is run by a 10 strong team of committee members, all of whom are students at the University. They do an amazing job at keeping the club growing and excelling year on year.
Recently, the club has become ASA (Amateur Swimming Association) registered. This means that registered SUSC members can compete at licensed open meets, County, Regional and National competitions. In addition to ASA membership, SUSC have very good links with the City of Southampton Swimming Club through our coaching team.
Every Wednesday of the Academic year our Social Secretaries hold a social - both alcoholic and non-alcoholic. This gives all our members the perfect opportunity to mingle and get to know each other out of the water! We also have very fun nights out when competing at BUCS in Sheffield and other competitions we attend.
As well as our weekly socials, there is the opportunity to go on tour. Tour is a 5 day long holiday every year in the University Easter break. Tour is a great opportunity to soak up some sun and enjoy some time away with the club. Both Competition and Recreational swimmers have the opportunity to join us - places are allocated on first come first serve basis. Previous destinations include Gran Canaria (2014), Tenerife (2015) and Salou (2016).
