About SUSC

Southampton University Swimming Club has two squads: Competition and Recreational. Whether you're aiming for top-tier performance or just enjoy swimming casually, we’re here to help you become the best swimmer you can be, and maximise your potential.

This year, we've had to resort to using another pool (The Quays Swimming & Diving Complex) and joining City of Southampton SC for some time during the first semester, as they're undertaking renovations at our usual training facility (Jubilee Sports Centre), however competition members still have access to 5 Training sessions in the pool. Along with this both of our squads have access to 1 swim session at Oaklands Community Poo1, 1 Gym session a week at Wide Lane and all of our socials. The joining fee for both the City swim club and the sports pass for the university will be partially reimbursed. If you plan to swim in the additional session at Oaklands then you will require a membership for this - see our Memberships section.

We follow a high-performance training programme and compete at a range of events throughout the year. Key competitions include BUCS (British Universities & Colleges Sport), Varsity against the University of Portsmouth, internal time trials, and the British University Swimming League (BUSL). BUSL is a student-run league where teams compete regionally, with conference winners advancing to the national final.

As the largest mixed gender sport society at the university, we are also well known for our socials and events. Every Wednesday night members of both squads come together for a social, most of which having a theme. These socials are a great opportunity for members across both squads, freshers and returners alike to get to know each other outside of the pool. All our members are invited to socials and are welcome to drink alcohol if they choose.

In addition to our weekly socials, we have bigger one-off socials throughout the year including: Christmas meal, Boat Ball, Athletic Union Ball and Tour. Tour is a 5-day long holiday we have every year over the Easter break where swimmers get to soak up the sun and enjoy some away time with fellow club members. Previous destinations of Tour include Albufeira, Majorca, Benalmadena, Tenerife, Magaluf, and Ayia Napa!
